Eric Hymowitz — called “ROC” by friends and family — started in the construction industry in 1994. Eight years later, in 2002, he and his wife Shara founded ROC Homes with a specific kind of builder in mind: one who knew their homeowners by name, showed up to their events, and stayed in touch long after closing day.
Two-plus decades in, that’s still the company. ROC Homes has grown to more than 400 homes built across Houston, with two distinct product lines — award-winning infill homes in the inner loop, and a new 55+ community in Tomball called Winfrey Estates — but the scale hasn’t changed the way they work. Eric still personally knows the homeowners. Shara still handles the finance and land side of the business. Their son helps with construction. The team is lean on purpose.
It’s the kind of builder where families come back to build their second home, and then their parents’ home, and sometimes their kids’ home after that. Eric often says his favorite part of the job is when a ROC homeowner refers him to a friend or a family member, because that’s when he knows he got it right.
